Trip Overview

The trip starts in Nairobi- Kenya. Visit two wildlife sanctuaries to learn about their conservation programs. At the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Nairobi, meet and learn about their orphaned baby elephants project. At the Giraffe Centre, meet and learn about the conservation efforts of the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Head further north to the rugged terrain of Samburu Game Reserve. You’ll explore this diverse wilderness among the palm groves and riverine forests of haven to spot some of Africa’s more unique species: the reticulated giraffes, gravy’s zebra, gerenuk, beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich. Then travel to the sprawling plains of Ol Pejeta Conservancy the biggest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa and discover the legendary wildlife on exclusive game-viewing drives—perhaps even spotting the famed “Big Five.” Our unique lodgings will offer up-close, one-of-kind viewings of the African wilderness without the crowds.

Itinerary details

Day 1. Nairobi, Kenya

On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta international Airport and after clearing with the customs and immigration department, you will be met by our team who will transfer you to Nairobi Serena Hotel.

Overnight stay at Nairobi Serena Hotel. BB.

Day 2. Nairobi, Kenya

After an early breakfast set out for a full day excursion in Nairobi and visit giraffe center (AFEW) well known for their conservation efforts of the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe, David Sheldrick’s wildlife trust is famed for the orphaned baby elephants. Lunch will be served at the Carnivore Restaurant. After lunch visit the Karen Blixen Museum before returning to your hotel.

Day 3. Samburu National Reserve, Kenya

Following breakfast, travel north through the fertile farmlands of the central part of Kenya bypassing pineapple, coffee, and vegetable farms stopping for lunch at Trout tree restaurant. After lunch proceed further north past equator and Mt Kenya (17,000 ft) the highest mountain in Kenya and one of the main water towers of this beautiful country heading to Samburu game reserve arriving later in the evening with a game drive en-route to at Samburu Intrepid Camp for check in.

Day 4. Samburu National Reserve, Kenya

Early morning tea or coffee is served and thereafter proceed for an early morning game drive returning for breakfast. After breakfast proceed for a mid-morning game drive returning to the camp for lunch. After lunch, relax by the pool before setting off for an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge or camp as the sun sets.

Samburu national reserve is located on a semi arid area and is famous for its rugged landscape, unique wildlife i.e reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx, the long necked gerenuk and the Somali ostrich that are rearly found in other places.

Day 5. Samburu National Reserve, Kenya

Following breakfast, depart for an half day game drive in Samburu National reserve in search of more game and exploration of this unique reserve with plenty of birdlife and beautiful scenery returning for lunch. After lunch and probably siesta, depart for an evening game drive returning to your camp as the sun sets.

Day 6. Olpejeta conservancy, Kenya

Sumptuous breakfast is served at the camp followed by check out and a departure for Ol pejeta conservancy follows with one stop along the way arriving sweetwaters camp in good time for check in lunch and a short break. 15.00 hrs visit the chimpanzee and the rhino sanctuary before proceeding with the evening game drive returning to the camp by sun set.

Day 7. Olpejeta conservancy, Kenya

Full day at olpejeta ranch with both morning and afternoon game drives .

The Conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa; in 2013, it reached a population milestone of 100 black rhino. It also houses the two remaining northern white rhino in the world. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is situated here which provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned, and rescued chimpanzees. It is the only place in Kenya where chimpanzees can be seen. The Conservancy is host to the “Big five game” animals among a large selection of other African animals, which makes it a popular safari destination.

Day 8. Soysambu Conservancy- Lake Elementeita Lake Nakuru National Park – Kenya

Breakfast is served followed by a departure for Soysambu Conservancy. Arrival at Elementeita Serena Camp will be in good time for check in and lunch. After lunch, enjoy a short break and siesta later enjoy an evening game drive in Soysambu conservancy returning to your Camp by sunset.

Day 9. Lake Nakuru National Park – Kenya

Depart after breakfast for an half-day game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park returning to your camp for lunch.

This beautiful lake in the park attracts thousands of lesser and greater flamingos and over 450 different birds species. There are a variety of bird species to watch in this lake. Not only does this lake boast of being a bird’s watchers paradise, it is also a rhino sanctuary for the highly endangered black and white rhinos. Other animals found here include buffalos, leopards, lions, water bucks, zebras, gazelles, Rothschild Giraffe amongst others. En route to the park, the unrivaled panorama of scenic views of the Great Rift Valley unfolds giving you an unmatched photographic opportunity.

Day 10. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

Early breakfast is served, check out and drive to masai Mara driving along the floor of the Great rift Valley. Later drive up the escarpment through the wheat and barley farms stopping in narok for a quick stop. Arrival in the masai Mara will be timely for check in, lunch and after Siesta depart for an evening game drive returning to the camp by sunset.

Day 11. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

After morning tea or coffee, leave early with packed picnic breakfast boxes to search for game and perhaps a fresh kill just as the sun rises over the maasai mara plains.

Masai Mara is arguably the world’s most famous game reserve with unrivaled natural beauty and wildlife concentration. It forms part of the Great Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. It is home to all the big five (elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, and the rhino). Over 95 species of mammals are found in this great reserve. Besides mammals, over 350 bird species have been recorded here and the scenic beauty is unmatched.

Later return for lunch and there after short break proceed for an evening game drive returning to your camp by sunset.

Day 12. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya

As the light brightens over the mara and after an early breakfast head out for a full day game drive with picnic lunches to explore the magic of the rolling plains of the masai Mara National reserve famous for the annual wildebeest migration one of the “seven wonders of the world ” it is native to the Mara River in Kenya. The masai Mara is home to the big five (lion, elephant, leopard, Buffalo and the rhino) plus plenty of other plains game not to mention of the over 400 different birds species found there.

Day 13. Nairobi, Kenya

Breakfast is served, check out and depart for Nairobi arriving by afternoon and check in at Nairobi Serena Hotel for day room. Later, you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta international Airport for your onward arrangements.

TRANSPORT

All arrival, departure transfers and game drive as specified in the itinerary by our safari custom converted Toyota Landcruiser 4×4.

WEATHER

December to March is East Africa’s “summer” with daytime temperatures from 80°F-90°F and evenings from 50°F to 60°F. June, July, and August are the coolest months, with lows around 40°F and highs of 70°F-80°F. September, October, and November are warmer, with lows around 65°F and highs of 75°F-85°F. Scattered rains occur in November and early December, which help to lay the dust.
