Trip Overview
The Trust is the most successful elephant-rescue and rehabilitation program in the world. You will get the opportunity to meet these orphaned baby elephants before heading to Giraffe Centre where you will learn about the conservation efforts of the endangered Rothschild Giraffe then to Karen Blixen Museum, once the home of Out of Africa author Karen Blixen.Resting at the foot of Mount Kenya, overlooked by its dramatic snow-capped peak is Olpejeta conservancy.
The Conservancy is renowned for protecting various species, including the world’s last northern white rhinos. A wide variety of wildlife can be enjoyed, from lion to giraffe and elephant, as well as chimpanzees. Further north east you get to Meru national park.
This Park has a captivating blend of history, wildlife, and pristine landscapes, making it a must-visit destination for nature enthusiasts.
From its fame as the setting for Born Free and the home of Elsa the lioness to its rich biodiversity and conservation triumphs, the park offers incredible safari experiences.
This legendary park holds tales of another Africa – it’s where Joy and George Adamson brought Elsa the lioness of “Born Free” fame to be set loose in the wilds.
Your trip will take you further to Samburu National Reserve. Samburu has a rich and diverse collection of wildlife with an abundance of the Samburu “Special Five” animals which includes the Grevy’s zebra, Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa Oryx, animals which are mostly only spotted in Samburu and Northern Kenya and are not usully found in other typically visited reserves in Kenya such as Masai Mara or Amboseli.

Itinerary details
Day 1. Nairobi, Kenya
On arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta international Airport and after clearing with the customs and immigration department, you will be met by a representative of untouched wilderness trips who will transfer you to Nairobi Serena Hotel.
Overnight stay at Nairobi Serena Hotel. BB.
Day 2. Nairobi, Kenya
After an early breakfast set out for a full day excursion in Nairobi and visit Nairobi national park, Sheldrick’s wildlife trust is famed for the orphaned baby elephants. Lunch will be served at the Carnivore Restaurant and there after lunch visit giraffe center (AFEW) well known for their conservation efforts of the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe before returning to your hotel.

Day 3. Ol Pejeta Conservancy
Our driver who will be your guide will pick you up from the hotel after breakfast and roll over the Kenyan highlands towards the Ol Pejeta conservancy in Nanyuki that is approximately 3 hours’ drive from Nairobi. However, you will have one stop over on the way to stretch and get a view of the beautiful green highlands of the Mount Kenya region. On arrival, you will have lunch before going in for an afternoon game drive in the conservancy. Ol Pejeta is known as a home for chimpanzees and several species of the big five family. The driver will later drop you at the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4. Olpejeta conservancy, Kenya
Full day at olpejeta ranch with both morning and afternoon game drives .
The Conservancy boasts the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa; in 2013, it reached a population milestone of 100 black rhino. It also houses the two remaining northern white rhino in the world. The Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary is situated here which provides a haven for orphaned, abandoned, and rescued chimpanzees. It is the only place in Kenya where chimpanzees can be seen. The Conservancy is host to the “Big five game” animals among a large selection of other African animals, which makes it a popular safari destination.

Day 5. Meru National Park
In the morning after breakfast and a brief game drive you will proceed on to Meru national park that is not too far away from Ol Pageta; approximately 2 hours. You will arrive in time for lunch and later depart for an afternoon game drive in the park. The driver will later take you to the lodge to have your dinner and spend the night.

Day 6. Meru National Park
Early breakfast is served and there after depart for a long morning game drive until noon returning to your lodge /camp for lunch. After lunch enjoy some rest or relax by the pool before departing for an evening game drive returning to your lodge by sun set.

Day 7. Samburu National Reserve
After breakfast and check out followed by departure for Samburu national reserve with a stop-over en-route arriving at your lodge or camp in good time for check in and lunch. After a short break and siesta proceed for an evening game drive returning to your camp as the sun sets.
Dinner and overnight stay at Elephant bedroom camp.
Day 8. Samburu National Reserve, Kenya
Early morning tea or coffee is served and thereafter proceed for an early morning game drive returning for breakfast. After breakfast proceed for a mid-morning game drive returning to the camp for lunch. After lunch, relax by the pool before setting off for an afternoon game drive returning to the lodge or camp as the sun sets.
Samburu national reserve is located on a semi arid area and is famous for its rugged landscape, unique wildlife i.e reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx, the long necked gerenuk and the Somali ostrich that are rearly found in other places.

Day 9. Samburu – Nairobi
After breakfast at your lodge the driver will pick you up and head for a brief morning drive and later depart for Nairobi with lunch on the way. The driver will later drop you at your hotel in Nairobi or see you off at the airport to catch your flight to the next destination.

WEATHER
December to March is East Africa’s “summer” with daytime temperatures from 80°F-90°F and evenings from 50°F to 60°F. June, July, and August are the coolest months, with lows around 40°F and highs of 70°F-80°F. September, October, and November are warmer, with lows around 65°F and highs of 75°F-85°F. Scattered rains occur in November and early December, which help to lay the dust.
